Jeanie Marie Buss has been an American entrepreneur for over 20 years. Her current position is that as president of the Los Angeles Lakers, the National Basketball Association's controlling owners. Buss is a California native who grew in an affluent family. Jerry Buss was her father. Jerry Buss started out as a realty tycoon before becoming the owner of the Lakers. In 1972, her parents separated together and she felt abandoned. At the age 19 she became the General Manager for the Los Angeles Strings, a professional tennis team. She then founded the Los Angeles Blades team of professional roller hockey. Prior to becoming vice-president of the Lakers in 2013, she was president of Great Western Forum. Buss and her five sisters inherited his Lakers control following the death of Buss' father in 2013. Each of the sisters had an equal voice.
