Heidi Klum was conceived in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany, on the 1st of June 1973. Erna Klum was her hairdresser's mom. Gunther Klim, her father was the executive of a cosmetics firm. Her father was previously a production manager for the 4711 perfume company. Her birthplace Bergisch Gladbach, a small city of about 100,000 inhabitants located six miles from Cologne was where she grew up. The former model from Germany, Heidi Klum has become an actress and a host on television. Karin, a friend of Klum's at the time (18-year-old) student encouraged her to take part in a German talent contest on TV named Model 92. The German women's publication Petra supported the show, which was part of Thomas Gottschalk's late-night talkshow. Klum was competing against over 25,000 contestants from all over Germany and Europe up to the point of being one of the three semi-finalists. In April 1992 Klum won the $300,000.00 top prize for modeling.
